D.C. is well-known for its remarkable art scene. The city is filled with Smithsonian museums, (which are all free, btw) local pop-up galleries, photography shows, etc. The Kingdom of Colors experience was unlike any exhibit I have ever seen, and I grew up in museums. This installation took place at Artechouse, which is an interactive digital art gallery. It is a very one of a kind space. Artechouse tends to feature large scale installations by artists who create from new age technology.
We had to purchase tickets to this exhibit in advance, as only a certain number of people were allowed to be in the installation room during each time slot. When we arrived, we were escorted down a long flight of stairs into the main, large space. Whimsical music was playing as mini videos and moving images were projected onto the walls. It was truly a psychedelic experience I must say. We sipped on some cocktails and laid down on the big cushy bean bags provided in the middle of the room, then immersed ourselves in this fantastic installation.
It was really a dream-like experience. The colors were beautiful, and everything synched up to the music beautifully. Not your average date night that’s for sure! Definitely was a unique, fun night out 🙂 Xoxo
